RSS FeedDream Build Play is back! Back in 2007 Microsoft had the first Dream Build Play contest. Yes, 10 years ago. Then it went away for a while … like 7 years or so… But it is back! And I’m excited about it. You can check it out here, or get a little history lesson and […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to ...
I’m writing this blog post from a hotel room in Seattle. I’m attending the Microsoft MVP Summit. To attend this summit, you have to be a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP). I was fortunate enough to receive this award from Microsoft back in 2009 and every year since then.Originally, I received this award for DirectX/XNA. XNA Game Studio 3.0 Unleashed Code updated to Run under Windows 10 (and HoloLens) I’ve gone through the first pass of updating the code in the book. This took quite a bit of time. Some of the chapters are still a little wonky as I’ve ran out of time. But I wanted to […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click ...
It was announced that Microsoft is no longer producing the Xbox 360 console. It was a great console and still has a lot of life in it. Of course, I have two different ones, but I rarely use one and the other is so I can stream Netflix. (Not a smart TV, in fact, it […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to...
As I’m going through and updating the code I ran into a following snag that took me a bit to figure out. In this case, I only had a Pixel Shader and no Vertex Shader. The shader worked just fine back in the day, but during the upgrade I was told that MonoGame only supported […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new windo...
I’ve started working on upgrading my old XNA Game Studio 3.0 Unleashed book’s code so it will run on the Universal Windows Platform (UWP). I haven’t touched this code since it was created back in 2008/2009, but with the HoloLens coming, I thought it would be good to dust off the code and see what […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Poc...
I’m pleased to announce that the XNA Game Studio 3.0 Unleashed book’s source code has been released under the Ms-PL license on CodePlex. So you can use Git and create a clone locally to start working with it or you can fork it and update it for XNA 4.0. So last week I wrote a blog post on my XNAEssentials website demonstrating how to create a selection wheel / pie menu in XNA Game Studio 4. Before I even announced it on twitter, Michael Neel (@ViNull) sent me this tweet. Then in his @GameMarx podcast on Friday (which I watched on Saturday) he had […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on ...
I had the opportunity to speak at SIEGECon 2010. SIEGE stands for Southern Interactive Entertainment & Game Expo. Pretty cool acronym. So I drove down to Atlanta on Thursday, September 30th. It is about 300 miles/5 hours from the Greensboro area. I arrived Thursday night late. I stayed at a hotel down the road since […] Know someone who might like this?Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window...
